"Happy Valentine's Day!" These three simple words can be a person's worst nightmare or a beautiful reminder of the love you have in your life...depending on the person.
Here are three reasons why you will want to celebrate this day of love whether you are single or in a relationship.
1) It's a great excuse to eat chocolate! Seriously, who doesn't want a reason to do that! Did you know that dark chocolate, especially raw chocolate, is good for you? Cacao beans, which is what real, raw dark chocolate is made from has an abundance of calcium, magnesium and more vitamins, minerals and antioxidants?
You can buy this delicious chocolate from stores like Community Natural foods or The Light Cellar here in Calgary or you can make your own! It's easy! Feel free to add a blend of delicious superfoods or keep them out for a simple treat.
Simple Superfood Dark Chocolates
1 cup cacao butter
½ cup coconut oil
2 cups cacao powder
½ cup maple syrup
2 tbsp maca powder (optional)
½ tsp Harmonic Arts 14 mushroom blend (optional)
¼ tsp hibiscus berry powder (optional)
Melt coconut oil and cacao butter in a double boiler over low heat.
Add remaining ingredients and stir until thoroughly mixed.
Pour into moulds and freeze for 20-30 minutes.
2) You get to spend time with the person, or people, you love! Yes, I know... we shouldn't need a day to tell us to spend quality time with the people we love but sometimes we do! Think about it.... in the daily grind how much quality time do you spend with your significant other, family and friends? It's tough sometimes. Valentine's Day is a great reason to get together and spend some quality time with these people.
That's why single, or in a relationship, this can be a great day! Singles, call up your closest friends, get dressed up, go out for a fancy dinner and have some fun! If you're in a relationship, book a couples massage, cook each other dinner and make love like you never have before.
3) It's a great day to give yourself some love! Maybe you are a social butterfly and spend a lot of time with people. Maybe you and your partner spend an abundance of quality time together and you need some alone time. Valentine's Day may be the perfect excuse to give yourself some love.
How to show yourself love:
Sleep in and read an inspiring book before starting the day.
Treat yourself to a massage, facial or pedicure.
Go to the gym or attend a yoga class.
Spend the day in silence and reflect on your dreams and action plans.
Treat yourself to lunch at your favourite restaurant.
Take some time to organize your home. You will feel much better living in a clean and organized space.

Regardless of what you decide to do today make it a day that is full of love! commit to receiving and giving love to everyone in your life today!
