Why eat dairy when there are better sources of calcium with less side effects?

Dairy is a popular food item in the world today and is often thought of as a good source of calcium.

However, holistic health experts have a different opinion and they can back it with research. Research has shown that dairy products can be a cause of inflammation in the body, often resulting in acne and health problems. Studies also show that there are far better sources of calcium than dairy products. Some great sources of calcium include:

I know, I know. If you love dairy I bet eating cheese is a big one for you? You might be thinking, "how could I possibly give up cheese?" I have a great option for you! Check out this almond feta recipe!

Baked Almond Feta
Ingredients:
  • 1 ½ cups almond meal or flour

  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice

  • ½ cup filtered water

  • 3 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tsp fresh dill

  • 1 ¼ tsp sea salt

Directions:

  • Preheat oven to 375 F.

  • Blend all ingredients in Vitamix until smooth. You will need to use the plunger to ensure all ingredients are blended thoroughly.

  • Pour 1 Tbsp of mixture into each space of a mini muffin tin that has been greased with coconut oil.

  • Bake 20 minutes until golden brown. Allow cooling before removing from the muffin tin.

  • Serve with Oregano Dill Kale Crackers.
