The Gift Of NEVER DIETING AGAIN!

WELCOME to Day 1 of the 12-Days of Holiday Joy! Each day I will share with you valuable health, fitness, nutrition and/or wellness information and give lucky winners of the draw an amazing gift!

Today I give you the gift of NEVER DIETING AGAIN!

Why in the world do so many people follow a plan that has the word DIE in it and hope to live a

better life?

Let me ask you this... does starving, or depriving yourself of carbs, or your favourite foods, feel good? Does running on the treadmill for hours on end make you feel amazing or are you just doing it to burn off the food, or wine, you consumed the night before?

What if I told you you could manage your weight and gain better health by never dieting again... would you want to know more?

Well, guess what? It's true! YES! You can reach your weight management goals by never dieting again! You can eat all the delicious food you want and you don't have to beat yourself up in the gym! Imagine that?! A life that is full of nothing but enjoying food and life! Sound too good to be true? Well, it isn't!

Does this mean you can sit on the couch and eat potato chips every day and still be fit and healthy? NO, of course not... but you still can enjoy yourself. Here's how:

1) Make better choices. When you choose to eat food that is fresh and full of colour such as dark leafy greens, and a variety of other fruits and veggies you can pretty much eat as much as you want. As long as you don't overfill your digestive system (which can slow digestion and cause problems) fill your boots... or should I say your mouth!

2) Get moving! This does not mean you have to slug it out in the gym. All you need to do is get out for a walk, breath in the fresh air while you move your body, get your heart pumping a little, breath in some fresh air and relax your body and mind.

3) Stay present. It is important to live every moment as much as possible in the present. That way you will enjoy every moment while it is happening rather than living in the past or hoping for the future.

This also includes being mindful, and staying present, when you eat. This means approaching eating, and enjoying food, as an experience rather than scarfing down a tasteless dinner.

How can you be more mindful?

  • Be aware of your physical and emotional cues. Do you feel shaky and is your stomach growling? Do you feel drained and in need of some emotional nourishment?

  • Recognize non-hunger triggers for eating. Are you hungry because you are tired, thirsty, bored or feeling other kinds of emotions? Or, are you truly hungry?

  • Meet other needs in more effective ways. Do you use food to fill a void? Do you eat when you feel the need for more love, when you are sad or angry?

  • Choose food for enjoyment and nourishment. Do you eat to live or live to eat?

  • Eat for optimal satisfaction and satiety. Do you eat food just because someone said it was good for you or are you eating it because you really enjoy it?

  • Use the fuel you’ve consumed to live the life you desire. Are you eating the right foods so that you can live life the way you want it? Do you have enough energy or are you tired and sick?

4) Get off the scale. When you live your time preoccupied by your weight you miss out on so many of the great things life has to offer. Get off the scale, start implementing the tips above and LIVE LIFE! It is far too short to be worried... besides, worrying about your weight is often a big reason why weight will not come off. What we focus on we get more of!
