30 days of giving - Day #4: What do you feed your fur baby?

About 15 years ago my mother, and step dad, brought home a brand new baby, a beautiful Golden

Retriever, who they named Divot. Before adopting Divot my mom did a lot of research about the best food to feed her. Having grown up on a farm with many animals my mom understood the importance of eating fresh food and how this relates to good health in humans and animals. So, she set out to do what no many people are willing to do; feed her dog a whole food diet.

She sought the knowledge and guidance of Dr. Pitcairn, a holistic vet, who's book, The Complete Guide to Natural Health for Dogs and Cats, helped her understand what foods dogs can and can't eat.

Since then Divot has been eating a diet of fresh, organic meat, brown rice, or other whole grain, fresh vegetables and a variety of nutrtiional supplements, including Juice Plus whole food capsules and a healthy powder recommended by Dr. Pitcairn. Divot is now 15 years old and despite a few issues that are common with old age, she is a vibrant and healthy dog. Her vet says he has never seen a dog as healthy as Divot.

Of course he hasn't seen my fur baby ;)

As an avid animal lover it is not often that I am living without a pet. So, a few years a go I decided it was time to get a dog. I search online to see what kind of dog I wanted. I soon came accross a little of Yorkie-Shih Tzu pups. As soon as I saw that little face, on the left, I knew it was meant to be. I called up the owner right away, went to see her and took her home.

Following in my mother's footsteps I made sure that Pebbles ate the best food ever so I studied Dr. Pitcairn's book and learned exactly what to do to make sure my new fur baby stayed health and happy. I included the healthy powder that was in the book; however, from my study of superfoods and nutrition I knew I could make it even better. So, my partner, and fellow Director of Awesomeness, developed a Super Powered version of the healthy powder we now call Super Powered Pets Super Powder. To learn more about this Super Powder click here.

Here is a typical dinner for Pebbles:

1/4 cup organic meat, beans or one raw, or cooked, egg

1/4 cup cooked brown rice or quinoa

1/4 cup chopped veggies (cooked or raw)

1 Tbsp parsley, chopped

1 tbsp extra virgin organic olive oil

1/2 tsp Super Powered Super Powder

Many people question the time it takes to do this and it is so simple. It takes no time at all to throw

these things into her bowl and besides isn't your fur baby worth the little extra love and attention it takes to make them dinner? I think so!
