30 days of giving - Day# 12: Giving Gratitude for Thanksgiving
Thanksgiving is a time of year when families and friends gather to celebrate and give thanks. What
I love most about this time of year is the chance to give gratitude and refelct on all the things I am thankful and grateful for in my life.
It is a good practice to give gratitude and thanks for your life on a dialy basis. It has been shown that people who practice gratitude tend to:
take better care of themselves physically and mentally
engage in more protective health behaviors and maintenance
get more regular exercise
eat a healthier diet
have improved mental alertness
schedule regular physical examinations with their doctor
cope better with stress and daily challenges
feel happier and more optimistic
avoid problematic physical symptoms
have stronger immune systems
maintain a brighter view of the future
How to engage in a regular practice of gratitude?
1) Start a gratitude journal. This is something you will write in every night before bed and every morning when you wake.
2) Write down at least three things you are grateful for every day.
3) Through your day recognize the little things and give thanks for the small blessings you experience in the moment
It won't take long before this simple practice transforms your life.
"If we practice gratitude as opposed to maintaining an attitude of entitlement, we’ll automatically extend inspiration wherever we go. Being grateful helps remove the influence of our egos, which is certain that we’re better than everyone else. An attitude of gratitude allows us to adopt the radical humility that’s very persuasive in helping others connect with the Spirit that unites us all. Gratitude and humility send signals to all who meet us that we’re all connected to something larger than life itself." ~ Dr. Wayne Dwyer
