30 days of giving-Day #28: Why the world is threatened by VEGANS
When I first embraced a vegan lifestyle most people in my life thought I was crazy! It was like I was
telling them I was moving to another planet. In my world being vegan was not something that was common. Out of everyone I knew including all my family and friends I was the only vegan.
The more I embraced the lifestyle the less of a social life I seemed to have. No one knew what to make for me, so I was no longer invited over for dinner, and I was no longer invited out for dinner because couldn't eat anything in mainstream restaurants and hardly even drank alcohol. I was not so much fun...so it seemed to others but for me it was all worth it.
Why did I make the switch?
I decided to go vegan initially tro train for a figure competition. I was already vegetarian and knew I felt better eating this way. The coach I found was a raw vegan athlete and said that the only way he would train me was to be 100% raw vegan and he thought it would bring me the best results.
He was right! I made the switch to 100% raw vegan and felt fantastic! However, I still struggled with my social life and the people who just couldn't understand why I was doing it. So, there times when I slipped up. My favorite meat was salmon so on accation I woudl have a salmon, or even a bite of one. However, the more I learned about what being vegan really meant and how it meant so much more than just cutting meat out from the diet I was hooked and never looked back.
What does vegan mean?
Embracing a vegan lifestyle means you do not ingest any animal meat, or products, and do not support any companies that use animal testing or support animal cruelty.
The more I learn about what actually happens to animals that are used for food and products the easier it is for me to stay vegan. The amount of suffering that animals ensdure just to satisfy human tastebuds and desires is unacceptable to me and should be deemed illegal. It has also been shown that the agricultural industry is responsible for more environmental devastation than any other indusrty yet no one seems willing to do anything about it.
This is why I choose not to support any of it.
What are the benefits of being vegan?
There are more benefits to being vegan than people realize and it's so much more than just cutting out meat form the diet. Going vegan results in an abundance of physical, mental and spiritual benefits.
I was going to mention all of the benefits here but I stumbled accross a webiste that has listed 57 Benefits of Going Vegan from The Nursing School blog that explains it so well. Read more here...
Why is the world threatened by vegans?
I believe the world is threatened by vegans for a variety of reasons, such as:
1) Vegans make people take note of uncomfortable situations, such as animal cruelty.
2) Vegans educate people on environmental issues and animal rights issues that would require people to make changes in their lives, including giving up their tasty meats like bacon.
3) Vegans, who are especially into raw, whole-food are often more spiritually connected to the Divine (or God), to themselves and to mother nature. People who are living in a unconscious world cannot relate to this energy.
